Changes to Salsa div tag IDs on donation pages

A number of you have noted that styling Salsa donations pages is made more difficult by the generic names Salsa currently gives the salsa-generated content on the page, notably the < div >s “header” and “footer”, which conflict with a lot of templates out there.

To make it easier to style your pages, Salsa will be switching the names of the Salsa divs to “salsaDonationHeader” and “salsaDonationFooter”.  If you aren’t currently doing any styling upgrades to the Salsa header and footer < div >s, then this change won’t affect you.

If you have added styles to ‘header’ and ‘footer’ that you want maintained, you will need to switch those styles to point to the new div IDs.
For everyone else, you now have one less thing to worry about when generating templates!

This is the Motor City

Saturday, February 12, was the State Convention of the Michigan Democratic Party, bringing together elected officials, progressive activists and online organizers from across the state and across the country to the Cobo Center in Detroit.

I was honored to be able to attend on behalf of Salsa and meet with some great organizers like Chris Palette, the Technology Administrator for the Michigan Democratic Party and Doug Pratt, the Communications Director of the Michigan Education Association. Events like these make me grateful for the degree to which, despite electoral setbacks in the midterm elections, progressives have kept up the hard fight for the Americans most desperate for change.

We're also proud that Michigan leads the way, empowering their county parties with the myMichiganDems program, making it possible for Democratic organizations of all sizes to organize online with the same world-class set of Salsa tools that are used by nonprofits, campaigns, and businesses around the globe.

See you next year, Michigan! Thanks for showing us that the "hottest fire makes the strongest steel."

Friday Fiesta

Happy Friday!

Last night, I went to a Local Food Fair where I learned about all the different CSAs in our area and had to drag my son away from the gymnastics demonstrations and rodent displays (not in the same area, but both fascinating).

Can I Import This List?

Say you have a list of emails, and you'd like to import your list into Salsa but you aren't sure if it's a good idea. What email lists are okay to import, and what ones should you stay away from? Here is a list of lists, designed to answer the question: Can I import this list?

Yes

  • Any emails signed up directly with your organization. They may have filled out an online form, signed up using a pen-and-paper sign-up sheet.
  • Lists from change.org or Care2.
