Nominate Salsa Labs for Most Valuable Tech

Salsa Labs is the technology behind the organizing tools that help thousands of nonprofits and advocacy groups create change every day.

We are so proud of all of our users - both large and small - and we continue to be amazed each day at how innovative and creative you all are at using our tools to empower your supporters in new ways.

As the year comes to a close, we'd love your help in nominating Salsa Labs at this years' Rootscamp as a "Most Valuable Tech" for 2010.

Friday Fiesta: event deadlines, social networking, and Ewoks

Happy Friday!

I've only eaten most of my son's Halloween candy this week. He did pretty well for a two-year-old cat, but I think the highlights of trick-or-treating were when he saw an ambulance, and when he received a little bag of pretzels. These little joys made it really easy for me to sneak away all of the chocolate without him even noticing. I am an awesome mom.

This week's highlight was about the registration deadline fields on events. Last week, we highlighted the nifty archives tag.

We also made some improvements to reports...

Offseason Organizing

I'm John Brougher, and I lead the political team here at Salsa Labs. We're all still recovering from knocking on doors and hitting the phones, but even as we strike our campaign offices and marvel at our lack of sleep, we have to remember our ultimate goal: delivering desperately needed change across America.

The election is over, but the campaign has just begun.

For countless months, you’ve been developing contacts, fundraising online, holding events, and empowering your supporters via email and social networks—and Salsa's been there to help. Even though the votes (mostly) have been counted, the relationships you’ve been developing endure and must be maintained.

As ex-campaigners ourselves, we know how important it is to keep supporter relationships evergreen—that’s why I’m happy to announce Offseason Organizing, a Salsa program to recognize the new reality: the most effective campaigns are ongoing.

  • Develop your supporter relationships during the offseason: You've worked hard to motivate your supporters to volunteer, donate more and vote—why stop now? Those same people will go to bat for you again, but only if you keep communicating with them after the election.
  • Promote other candidates and causes: Your race is over, but other people and organizations can benefit from a highly organized constituency, like the folks already in your Salsa database.
  • Keep and improve your data: You spent all that time and effort collecting email addresses and zip codes—make sure you retain access to that data and can even improve it, activating those supporters and getting more information to empower them again before the next cycle begins.

Come to the Offseason Organizing page to learn more about the program and signup today! Sign up your campaign before the end of November and receive 30% off program monthly fees.

Salsa Labs in Huffington Post

Check out our very own April Pedersen in the Huffington Post, talking about "Offseason Organizing" and creating results in the wake of Tuesday's election results.  It's not the technology that wins the election, it's the way the technology is used to engage your supporters and activists!

Help Us Name The Salsabomb

While many campaigns were decided this past Tuesday on Election Day, there is still one more important vote you need to cast - the name of our Salsabomb!

As you may have heard, Salsa Labs launched our very own guerilla marketing character - the Salsabomb - a few weeks ago to help get people excited about our organizing platform.  Our Salsabomb makes random appearances (and checks in with our Foursquare account) to spread his love of the Salsa organizing platform.  You never know when or where he'll show up, but those who spot him and send us photos or post them on Twitter with the hashtag #salsabomb will be rewarded!
