Salsa attends ASAE Conference in St. Louis

I was lucky enough to attend the ASAE Conference—The Center for Association Leadership from August 6-9 in Saint Louis.  Over 5300 association executives joined me in the largest and most elaborate exhibit hall I’ve ever seen! Luckily, Salsa’s booth was in a great location (close to the food!), so I was able to meet and talk to some of the country’s top leadership from a wide variety of associations. There is literally an association for everything—even one for the Holiday and Decorative professionals! We look forward to working with some of these great association and next year's ASAE in Dallas.

PowerThru Consulting: 10 Minutes to a Bigger, Better Button on Your Salsa Action.

by Drew Hudson, PowerThru Consulting

My company was literally built on Salsa. When we decided to start PowerThru, we signed the incorporation papers at the 2010 Salsa users conference and celebrated by hosting a margarita reception.

Today, PowerThru is a nimble team of tech strategists that specialize in building and customizing Salsa tools for the 3000+ organizations and tens of millions of members who use Salsa every day. We make custom actions for the Wisconsin recall elections, train the AFL-CIO network and manage the TrueMajority list of 3/4-of-a-million members every day.

But of all the things we do on Salsa, the thing people ask for more than any other is bigger, more beautiful buttons. So here's a quick tutorial on how to add any button you want to your Salsa action using some grab-n-go CSS and a little PowerThru ...

Salsa Highlight: Perfect your emails with A/B testing

Greetings!

It's the "Salsa Weekly Highlight," your quick hit on what's new in Salsa to help get the most out of your online program. As always, you can find plenty more news, updates, and conversation throughout the week on SalsaCommons.org.

We've highlighted this feature before, but it's so valuable to users that we thought we'd put the spotlight on it again:

Email A/B Testing

A/B Testing just means:

  • Sending slightly different versions of your emails to compare performance.

For instance, you might be wondering:

  • Will more people open an email with the subject "Please donate now" than "Help us reach our goal"?

Salsa's A/B testing makes it a snap to find the answer.

What they're sayin'...

From the Washington Post's Steven Overly:

Husband-and-wife duo Chris Lundberg and April Pedersen launched the nonprofit Democracy in Action eight years ago to provide online tools and training for other nonprofits looking to raise money, plan events or mass communicate.

But the pair discovered the Web tools could be useful to other clients, such as political campaigns, so they spun them out into a for-profit software firm called Salsa Labs. The company now counts 50 employees in Dupont Circle and an Austin satellite office.

But thanks to a $5 million investment announced Monday (Aug. 1) from Edison Ventures, those ranks will likely swell by 100 during the next 18 months. They plan to open a third office in Reston and expand marketing efforts to attract new clients.

From TechPresident's Nick Judd:

One of the most widely used purveyors of political software for progressive causes today announced an investment deal that ...

Salsa Receives $5 million from Edison Ventures!

Dear Members of the Salsa Community,

Exciting news!  We’re thrilled to announce that Edison Ventures is investing $5M in Salsa Labs to help us grow faster, improve our platform and services, and develop new products on Salsa. This is not just an investment in Salsa Labs; it’s an investment in the community and the 2K+ organizations that use our organizing platform every day to engage millions of people on important issues.

This investment will support our training and community support programs, the development of 3rd party applications in the Salsa Market, and our product development strategy to expand our capabilities for advanced donor management, social CRM, mobile applications, and much, much more.

As we grow, we will continue to offer the most intuitive, feature-rich platform at the most affordable prices. Our mission has always been to make technology accessible to ALL nonprofits and campaigns so that you have the resources you need to organize more people and ultimately change the world. By creating better tools, better service, better training, and a stronger community, we'll all build a stronger progressive movement.

We're also happy to do our part in helping grow the local economies in the DC area and in Austin, TX. This investment will enable us to ...
