Building a Lasting Memorial in Mobile

An active, engaged group of community organizers in Mobile, Alabama is raising funds to build a lasting memorial to the crew of CG-6535, as well as the crew of CG-1427, an additional Mobile-based unit that perished in a 1981 helicopter crash.

A fundraising goal of $60,000 has been set to prepare the grounds, install a pathway, build benches and erect the memorial at Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile.

You may contribute to the memorial fund here, or mail a donation to the Coast Guard Foundation, 394 Taugwonk Road, Stonington, CT  06378.  Specify “CG-6535 Memorial” on the check or in a note.
