DAY OF ACTION
MONDAY, JUNE 25
Research shows that new mothers need time to bond with newborns, and that these critical first few weeks help build the healthy attachment that babies need for their development. But far too many families miss out because they are unable to access the NJ Paid Family Leave Insurance program.
TELL LEGISLATORS YOU SUPPORT A STRONGER #PaidFamilyLeave PROGRAM
Take action on Monday, June 25 to support stronger paid family leave for families across New Jersey. Contact your legislators to let them know you support acting on family leave!
New Jersey workers are fortunate to have access to a paid family leave insurance program. But current law only allows for 6 weeks off to bond with a newborn child. A bill (S2528/A3975) advancing through the NJ Legislature will make changes to improve and expand this program to reach more families. Read the legislation.
Every worker in New Jersey pays into the NJ Family Leave Insurance Fund, with the idea that workers should all be able to turn to the program when family members need it the most, including when a child is adopted or born, or when a child falls ill. However, because of flaws in the program, in reality the New Jersey paid family leave program is inaccessible for too many families, especially low wage workers.
Tell your legislator you support quick passage of this critical bill for families and children!
