ACNJ staff leaders and new addition
ACNJ President/CEO ACNJ Ceil Zalkind was named one of the first seven “30 Leaders for 30 Years" by Lead New Jersey. Carla Ross, Operations Manager and Peter Chen, Staff Attorney have been accepted into emerging leadership training programs.

New law limits expulsion for students grades K-2
ACNJ applauds new legislation signed into law on September 6 by Governor Christie that bans schools in New Jersey from expelling students in grades kindergarten through second grade. The new law also strictly limits schools from giving students out-of-school suspensions unless the conduct is dangerous to others.
NJ high schools lag in serving breakfast to teens
As students across New Jersey are back in school, high schoolers are less likely to begin their day with a healthy breakfast, according to an analysis released last week by Advocates for Children of New Jersey and the New Jersey Food for Thought Campaign.
The Department of Education issued a memo encouraging schools to serve breakfast after the bell.

Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the program will start promptly at 10:30 a.m.
A panel of guests will share efforts to overcome chronic absenteeism.
