September 20, 2013

Advocates for Children of New Jersey will release its 3rd Annual NJ Food for Thought School Breakfast Report on Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. at John Marshall Elementary School, 15 Cornell Street, Edison, NJ. A photo-op of children eating breakfast in the classroom, with Edison Superintendent Richard O’Malley, NJ Agriculture Secretary Douglas Fisher and ACNJ Director Cecilia Zalkind serving breakfast, will be held at 8:45 a.m.

The report features new data that show New Jersey making progress on its historically low participation rate in the federal School Breakfast Program, identifies districts that are “school breakfast champs” and “underachievers” and provides district-level data for hundreds of NJ school districts. NFL player Mark Herzlich will issue a school breakfast challenge to NJ districts.
