NJ Districts Claiming More Federal Breakfast DollarsNew Jersey school districts are projected to collect an additional $8.2 million in federal funds in the coming state fiscal year to feed hungry school children, according to the proposed state budget. This is the result of a growing number of districts serving breakfast in the first few minutes of the school day. Known as “Breakfast After the Bell,” this approach significantly boosts student participation in this critical child nutrition program – and increases the amount of federal dollars flowing to districts to ensure their students start their day with the nutrition they need to concentrate and learn. Is your district missing out on federal funds? Check your numbers here. The event, sponsored by the American Dairy Association, featured school administrators who have implemented breakfast after the bell and are reaping the benefits of more focused students who are ready to learn. |
