Avoiding the School to Prison Pipeline
Avoiding the School to Prison Pipeline: Systems working together to enhance educational opportunities for at-risk students
This "invitation-only" forum is designed for superintendents, school administrators responsible for disciplinary matters (i.e. principal, vice-principal, dean of students and members of Child Study Teams), guidance counselors, substance abuse counselors and family workers, school board members, to meet and work with law enforcement officers, families and members of New Jersey's county Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) teams to begin a discussion and learn about strategies for avoiding the school to prison pipeline for at-risk students.
Hear from the Hon. Steve Teske, Chief Judge, Clayton County Georgia Juvenile Court and other experts and begin to explore potential solutions with your colleagues on how we might work together to avoid the school to prison pipeline for at-risk youth.
The program will start promptly at 8:45 a.m. If you have any questions, please email Mary Coogan at mcoogan@acnj.org or call 973-643-3876.
This Forum is convened in partnership with: Advocates for Children of New Jersey, the NJ Governor’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee, the NJ Council for Juvenile Justice System Improvement, the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission, the NJ Department of Education and the NJ Alliance of Family Support Organizations.
