Experience a unique insider’s look at how Jerusalemites are working for social change. Meet the scholars, civil society champions, and religious leaders that are promoting tolerance and fighting extremism and violence in this sacred, beautiful, and contested city.

8:30 AM: Gather at NIF offices in Jerusalem.

8:30 AM – 9:45 AM: A City Torn By Diversity: Breakfast conversation with Prof. Menahem Lorberbaum, NIF board member, Professor of Jewish Philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and founding member of the Shalom Hartman Institute.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Combatting Hatred at the Grassroots: Tour of sites that were a target of ‘Price Tag’ (Tag Mechir) hate attacks and conversation Dr. Gadi Gvaryahu, Chairman of Tag Meir – the largest Israeli grassroots organization that works against hate crimes and religious racism in Israel. 

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Judaism as a Tool for Promoting Tolerance: Limmud over Lunch with the leaders of KIAH (Kol Israel Haverim. Also known as Alliance Israel Universelle) - an established religious organization that seeks to promote a tolerant Judaism and social responsibility through education, while bridging through the divisions of Israeli society.
