Join us for the only training program developed specifically for State Long-Term Care Ombudsmen!
Hosted by the National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center, and developed in conjunction with the Administration on Aging and the National Association of State Ombudsman Programs, this conference promises programming on highly relevant topics that impact both ombudsman program management and advocacy.
Reminder: One of the changes in the 2016 reauthorization of the OAA addresses State Ombudsman participation in training provided by NORC and may be helpful when arranging travel. The OAA states that the State agency "shall require the Office to...ensure that the Ombudsman or a designee participates in training provided by the National Ombudsman Resource Center established in section 202(a)(18) [OAA Section 712(h)(4)]." The OAA FAQs provide more details about this requirement on page 9.

Room Rate: $122.00/night
The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista includes wireless internet in the sleeping rooms and public areas, continuous transportation to the Disney Theme Parks, in-room safe, use of fitness center, use of tennis facility, in-room refrigerator, iron and ironing board, in-room coffee, and poolside towels daily.
Transportation to/from the hotel:
• AIRPORT: The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is 17 miles from the hotel and takes 20 - 25 minutes to arrive.
• TAXI/UBER: The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista does not offer a complimentary shuttle service. An taxi from the airport to the hotel will cost approximately $55.00 an Uber will cost approximately $36.95.
• SUPERSHUTTLE: SuperShuttle is a shared-ride service to and from the airport. Your driver may make a few stops along the way to let your fellow passengers out, but this will vary based on the time of day, time of year, and the number of passengers. You must book your trip ahead of time, the cost is $48 round trip. Book your ride here: https://www.supershuttle.com/.
• DRIVING: The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista offers both valet and self-service parking. The fee is currently $15.00 per night, per vehicle.

• STATE OMBUDSMAN OR DESIGNEE - registration is FREE. Select Discount Rate and enter “SLTCO”.
• ALL NON-STATE OMBUDSMEN* - $250 registration fee.
*NOTE: This conference is intended for State Long-Term Care Ombudsmen and State Staff. Unfortunately we do not have programming or capacity to include Local or Volunteer Ombudsmen at this conference, except in limited special circumstances previously arranged with the host state. This legislation, which puts forth funding amounts for all programs under the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), and Education, included $10 million for the President’s Elder Justice Initiative. However, your help is still needed to urge Congress to fund this important initiative!

Applications for these trainings are now available - we welcome long-term care ombudsman programs, Citizen Advocacy Groups, family/caregiving groups, consumer alliances, disability groups, community organizations, senior organizations and others to apply to receive these trainings.
