Salsa Weekly Highlight: Group-Based Email TriggersSubmitted Thu Feb 03 2011 11:02:00 GMT-0500 (EST)
It's the "Salsa Weekly Highlight," your quick hit on what's new in Salsa to help get the most out of your online program. As always, you can find plenty more news, updates, and conversation throughout the week on SalsaCommons.org.
Last week, we shared some new features in the latest Salsa 1.8.1 release for analyzing email metrics.
This week, we turn the spotlight to another nifty and much-requested new feature: triggering emails upon joining a group.
Joining a Group Autoresponse Emails
Hopefully, you already use Salsa's Email Triggers activated by your various signup and action pages.
With Salsa 1.8.1, it's now possible to trigger an email every time a supporter joins a group.
You'll find this feature available in the "Options" tab of the "Manage Groups" workflow in Supporter Management.
We see a bottomless well of possibilities in this feature. Here are just a few ideas:
Build a common email "welcome series" for use on many different pages by having those pages populate a single Group. Need to change the welcome series? Just alter that single Group's trigger associations, instead of manually updating dozens of individual pages.
Have a "branching" welcome series where supporters who take a suggested action are automatically shifted to a new group with a higher-value follow-up ask.
Link email triggers to Salsa Greedy Smart Groups populated by Salsa Scoring to automatically trip donation appeals once supporters cross a "super-activist" threshold.
Launch an internal notification trigger to your organization's project or campaign manager every time someone signs up for her Group.
We're sure there's a whole slew of additional possibilities just waiting to be discovered by our intrepid users.
If you've found one, drop us a line at email@example.com -- or better yet, share it with the world at SalsaCommons.org!
