It's the "Salsa Weekly Highlight," your quick hit on what's new in Salsa to help get the most out of your online program. As always, you can find plenty more news, updates, and conversation throughout the week on SalsaCommons.org.

I hope you had a great Cinco de Mayo. We're celebrating by beginning an upgrade process for Website Management features across the Salsa-using community with two tools:

• Simple Surveys
• News Items

You should see the upgrades described here in your Website Management tab immediately. (No need to install anything; they're automatic.)

Simple Surveys

Simple Surveys are signup pages with an added twist: the ability to incorporate survey tools.

You'll find all the same setup options as Signup Pages, plus the ability to customize your form with one or more additional survey questions.

These survey questions are simple yes/no questions that the supporter answers by checking a box. Each question is associated with a tag that will be applied to the supporter's record if selected. (The tag must have the prefix "issue" in order to appear as an option in the survey's picklist menu.)

News Items

The upgraded News Items feature doesn't change any functionality -- it simply cleans up the interface for adding News Items, and removes some outdated input fields.

Result: easier, more intuitive user interface.

Hey, this isn't new!

The Simple Survey tool and the newly published News Items package have actually been in use for a while on a few existing Salsa installations. What we're doing today is publishing them to all Salsa-using organizations.

So if you're not seeing any changes here, never fear -- we're not leaving you out in the cold! It's just that everyone else now gets to enjoy the same Website Management features.
