Citizen Watchdogs of Education: Belmont Cragin

Are you satisfied with your local public schools? Do you want to know how decisions are made and how school budgets are managed? Become a watchdog!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014 (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)

The BGA will host the next Citizen Watchdogs of Education Training at the Portage-Cragin Library.

Join parents and community leaders in understanding how your local Chicago public school operates. This Citizen Watchdogs of Education training session will teach you about the governing structure of the Chicago Public Schools system, school budgets and public school funding.

Expert presenters from Catalyst Chicago and the BGA's Investigative Unit will help you delve into school finances and explain how to obtain key information through the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. They'll also provide you the essential tools needed to keep an eye on your local school.

This event is free and open to the public. Questions? Contact Stephanie Simon at 312-821-9042 or ssimon@bettergov.org.
