END THE ABUSE: IL Legislative Scholarships

We've all seen the headlines. Lawmakers have abused legislative scholarships for long enough—it’s time to get rid of them.

In theory, scholarships are for deserving young people.

In reality, Illinois lawmakers dole out tens of thousands of dollars to children or relatives of their buddies, political allies or campaign workers.

Lawmakers are returning to Springfield at the end of the month, and they can fix this problem by eliminating legislative scholarships.

>> Will you add your name to our petition urging lawmakers
to eliminate legislative scholarships?

Please add your name to our petition to Illinois lawmakers. It says:

“Scholarships are supposed to be for deserving young people who have the smarts but not the cash to pay for school, but some Illinois lawmakers use legislative scholarships to give free tuition to children or relatives of buddies, political allies or campaign workers.

That’s not right!

I urge you to eliminate legislative scholarships as soon as you return to Springfield.”
