District Level Application Period is Now Closed. At-Large and PLEO Delegate Application Period is Now Closed.

On September 3, 2012, the Democratic National Committee will kick off the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. As Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, I have the privilege of overseeing the process that will select New Jersey’s 2012 convention delegation and then leading our delegation to Charlotte to re-nominate President Barack Obama.

The Democratic National Convention provides an opportunity for supporters from around the country to gather and celebrate our party, while kicking off our efforts to re-elect President Obama.  The nominating convention, held once every four years, gives our party the chance to formally select our standard bearer for the 2012 election and adopt our party platform.

You can View the 2012 Delegate Selection Plan here.

The 2008 National Convention in Denver represented a historic moment, in which the President delivered his acceptance speech before more than 80,000 people at Invesco Field at Mile High. On the floor of that convention, New Jersey was proud to lead with a unified delegation in support of President Obama.

In 2012, delegations will be sent to Charlotte by 56 states, territories and Democrats Abroad. The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is proud to once again participate and is looking forward to bringing our most diverse and representative delegation ever to Charlotte. I am committed to ensuring that our delegation truly reflects the face of New Jersey, and to that end we have set the most inclusive representation goals in our history. These goals represent the commitment of the Democratic Party to increase representation of traditionally underrepresented groups in party affairs and ensure that everyone who wants a seat at the Democratic table has one.

You can View the 2012 Delegate District Map here.

I want to encourage all Democrats in New Jersey to get involved, educate themselves on the delegate selection process and take the first step towards becoming a member of New Jersey’s delegation. We need your help to make our delegation the best it can possibly be so we can travel to Charlotte and proudly make history by nominating President Obama for a second term at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

I hope you will join me on the road to Charlotte.

Sincerely,

John S. Wisniewski
Chairman, New Jersey Democratic State Committee
