Gov. Chafee: Help us Keep the Lights on!

This year the General Assembly passed a measure 15 years in the making to protect Rhode Islanders most in need: families facing heat and electricity shut-off due to financial hardship.

The Slater Miller Low Income Energy Affordability Bill will help Rhode Islanders keep the lights on during the most trying times a family can face: drastic financial hardship by setting more affordable payment plans. This not only helps these households, but would reduce the bad debt that translates into higher rates for all of us.

Today we're calling on Governor Chafee to do the right thing and sign this bill into law to help Rhode Island families keep the lights on.

In these tough economic times we have a responsibility to help families most in need find their way out of the great recession. If we're willing to keep the lights on in the State House and Governor's offices, we should do our part to help those facing drastic financial hardship do the same.

Enter your address below to ask Governor Chafee TODAY to sign this common-sense measure into law!
