Considering the budget restraints and time crunches schools face, it can be tough for officials to provide their students with a healthy meal or squeeze in time for physical activity. But in spite of all the obstacles, some amazing schools are transforming their campuses into healthy places.
The 275 schools listed below are being honored by President Bill Clinton and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for all their hard work. They’ve distinguished themselves in the alliance’s “Healthy Schools Program” by improving the nutritional value of their school meals, meeting or exceeding guidelines for school beverages and making time for physical activity, among other achievements.
Will you send an e-card to these schools to help recognize them for all their hard work? These schools are leading the way in the effort to reverse childhood obesity, and they deserve our thanks.
To thank you I sent you this eCard -- you can view it here: http://bit.ly/mTgWej
In a time of tight education budgets, I know it can be difficult to find the funding needed to improve the nutritional value of the food you serve your students. Given the crowded curriculum you must teach your students each day, I know it can be challenging to carve out time for physical activity.
But despite these obstacles and so many others, you and your hardworking team remained dedicated to transforming your school into a healthy place. Thank you for your leadership.
Because of people like you, our children will be offered a healthier, happier future. Thank you.
