A Letter to State Officials Urging them to Preserve NJ’s High-Quality Preschools

Please sign on today!

Dear Governor Christie and Commissioner Cerf:

We are concerned about proposed changes to New Jersey’s high-quality preschools, as outlined in the recent report from the Education Transformation Task Force. These changes, if enacted, would erode the high-quality preschool that thousands of children in New Jersey’s poorest districts are now receiving.

This early learning is key to children’s school success. In fact, New Jersey’s own data show the long-term benefits of these preschools. As you know, New Jersey spends billions of dollars each year on public education. The preschool investment helps leverage those dollars so that more children graduate career or college ready.

We should be proud that every year New Jersey preschools provide thousands of young children with a quality early learning experience. If we want all our children to have successful and productive lives, we must continue to support what we know works: our existing high-quality preschool program.

We urge you to preserve our state’s successful preschools.
Thank you for your consideration.
