Restore Proposed cuts to NJ Family Care in the FY2012 Budget

It only takes $9 million – a fraction of the proposed $29.4 billion state budget -- to reverse harmful cuts to parents’ health coverage. The cuts are part of the Governor’s proposed spending plan, currently being debated by the state Legislature.

Tell your elected officials to restore this harmful cut, which would rob thousands of parents of essential health coverage.

NJ FamilyCare is one of New Jersey’s greatest success stories. The number of New Jersey children without health insurance has dropped 19 percent, thanks in large part to our success in enrolling children in NJ FamilyCare. Cutting parents from the program could reverse this progress, as research shows that eliminating parental coverage often leads to a drop in children who are covered.

Under the proposed budget, parents earning as little as $500 a month would be ineligible for coverage!

Join us in sending a message urging the Legislature to restore this damaging cut. Parents need health coverage to stay healthy, go to work and care for their kids. This is a smart investment in New Jersey’s today – and tomorrow.

The budget must be adopted by June 30. Please send a message today!
