Don’t play politics with Israel!

The issue of Israel has a legitimate place in the debate and discourse of a US election. As part of a serious discussion, we expect to see how each candidate would advance Israel-Palestinian peace.

What we have seen thus far in this election cycle is not engagement on the substance of the issues, but an ever-escalating contest to see who can declare their love for Israel the loudest and the most often, with each candidate striving to outdo his or her opponents on what it means to “support Israel.”  The resulting declarations clearly aren’t about showing love and support for Israel.  Rather, they are about scoring political points and pandering to ideologically-motivated sectors of American society.

It’s time to tell the campaigns to quit the pandering.
