Congressional debate must be factual

Congressman Anthony Weiner said last week that there was “no Israeli occupation” in the West Bank and that there were no Israeli troops there.

His comments reveal either a lack of knowledge about the situation on the ground or a disregard for the facts in order to appeal to a constituency that is not willing to hear the whole story. Either way, it’s unacceptable.

The problem is bigger than one Congressman. American leadership is needed to get a real push for peace going. Such leadership will be hard to sustain without open and honest debate in Washington.

We need your help to send Congress a message. Tell your representative that Americans want and deserve a policy debate that is substantive and based on real facts.
