Join NIF and our friends at Temple Micah for a conversation about social and political issues facing Israelis today, particularly on the issue of religious freedom. With former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem and co-founder of Tikkun-Olam oriented community Beit HaKerem, Rabbi Tamir Nir.

Tamir Nir is the former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem and a leader in the Yerushalmim party. Tamir's responsibilities as DM included the transportation, environment and conservation portfolios. He is an activist in all the pluralist movements in Israel (BINA, ELUL, etc.). He is an ordainee of HUC in Jerusalem and the co-founder of a Tikkun-Olam oriented community in Beit HaKerem.

Yerushalmim ("Jerusalemites") is a local civilian organization and political party in Jerusalem. The party was formed in 2008 by Rachel Azaria, who was elected that year to the city council of Jerusalem and then, more recently, to the Knesset in the Kulanu party. Yerushalmim is a municipal party whose members consist of secular and religious candidates and supporters, aiming to turn Jerusalem into a more pluralistic and open city. Its main target is to improve the life quality of the residents, together with battling radicalization and inequity in the public arena.
