About Talia Sasson
Talia Sasson is a widely recognized Israeli attorney, whose expertise includes the West Bank and civil rights issues. From 1996-2004, she was the director of the Special Tasks Department in the Israel State Attorney’s Office, and headed an inter-ministerial team appointed to deal with incitement, rebellion and political subversion. She also represented the State of Israel in the Supreme Court, on issues regarding the separation barrier, bypass roads, and settlement security.

In 2004, Ms. Sasson was appointed by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as special legal advisor for the preparation of an opinion regarding the settlements in the territories and enhancement of law enforcement among Israelis living there. Her work became known as the "Sasson Report." Now in private practice, Ms. Sasson also teaches and lectures on various political and legal topics, including a course at Tel Aviv University on "Legal Defenses of Democracy through Law." She serves as a member of the board of the New Israel Fund, Geneva Initiative Steering Committee, and the Council for Peace and Security.

Ms. Sasson is a veteran of the Israel Defense Forces and studied law at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and currently lives near Jerusalem on Moshav Beit Zayit.
