Theme for OAM 2017 is Age Out Loud

The Administration on Aging has announced the theme of 2017 Older American's Month (OAM) - Age Out Loud.  The theme highlights how more than ever before, older Americans are working longer, trying new things and engaging in their communities.  The theme helps give aging a new voice.  What it means to age has changed, and older Americans insist on living their lives to the fullest.  The theme is meant to celebrate what getting older looks like today. OAM is celebrated annually during the month of May. Start promoting OAM 2017 by using #OAM17 and #AgeOutLoud.

CMS Suspends Enforcement of Prohibition of Arbitration Agreements

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a memorandum "Long-Term Care (LTC) Regulation: Enforcement of Rule Prohibiting Use of Pre-Dispute Binding Arbitration Agreements is Suspended so Long as Court Ordered Injunction Remains in Effect."  The memo, dated December 9, 2016, states that CMS will not enforce the new rule prohibiting skilled nursing facilities, nursing facilities and dually-certified facilities from using pre-dispute binding arbitration agreements while there is a court-ordered injunction in place prohibiting enforcement of this provision. Read the full memo here.
