Please run again. We need your help in Washington to help clean it up for we, the people. Beginning with removing "the pledge" which takes away the vote (thru fear) of those representing the More....people and puts our lives into the hands of power hungry lobbyists like Grover Nordguist and his bunch who are friends with Abramoff - and who sell us down the river daily (by bullying our elected reps into submission to his ATR group of money people). |

Please do run again!!! We need honesty, intergrity & a supportive voice "for all people" whatever their political persuasion.
My hope for you, would to bring the "political bridge," talking More...."real issues." Lived in DC area; spouse worked in that arena. Politics, as we have all been witnessing acrossed all parties needs to stop & needs to stop NOW.
Politics, across the parties, is "stonewalling" any future advancement for our country. Dire straights that we are in as a Nation...all President's, Congress have had their hands "muddied" in that mix, over decades.
All are responsible, to include Wall Street, mortgage companies with where we are today. As you know, not an easy issue. I am a Democrat, Social Worker by training. Lots of issues for Democrats to address on local, State & Federal Arenas.
It saddens me, we are a blaming nation; rather than addressing the issues, accolodating what was done; encouraging forward movement. Free enterprise, does make one wonder, how that is working when "the have's take & take" pushing down the "have nots."
One of the multiple issues, passed on to President Obama by his predecessors, is our involvement w/Iraq & Afghanistan. Unfair, to be sure for President Obama...and a multitude of other issues, passed to him & his predessors before him.
In the trenches, I work with soldiers from those conflicts. It is very sad, that I have to battle with soldiers case managers to get needed services. Our National Guard & Reservists, too often are "in limbo"...no case managers, no access to TriCare services. They served, they have TBI & PTSD issues; they should be continued on for TriCare services, until they are medically boarded out from the military.
Reservists, have really been served more for these conflicts, repeated deployments, than Active Duty. Reservists, National Guard are treated "coming home" as "second citizens" on multiple fronts, especially with needed services. They have served our country, leaving their family with what military pay they received during deployments...often less than that "breadwinner was making." Reservists come home; can't do their normal occupation, b/c of their injuries.
Active Duty soldiers, not diminishing their service: their income is steady; their TriCare Medical & Dental resources are steady. They have a "cushion" and structured services for them. Active Duty soldiers, have "their community," infrastructure/supportive services...on their bases. Again, not diminishing anyone: Reservists & National Guard...don't have those systems: items getting better, so not there, for those latter soldiers or their families.
Reservists & National Guard soldiers, have significant issues when they come home injured. They can't do their previous positions b/c of their injuries. Their families were compromised during deployments economically; they continue to be challenged economically, post-deployment, when the spouse cannot go back to their previous employment b/c of their injuries.
As a care provider to these soldiers, new items are cropping up with TriCare denials; items that I previously could access are now denied, even for Rerverists with medical care.
Have been trying to figure out that, one service that I have accessed for three years, is now being denied, by one TriCare Region. You bet it is a major service, that has made a huge difference with soldiers recovery.
I see trends, my doc's that I refer soldier's too, see trends from this current conflict. Nope, these doc's don't need business to keep their business' afloat. They are concerned physician's.
Our country, most USA citizens, have no clue with the "real sacrafices" all soldiers have done during these conflicts. It is the longest conflict in USA history. The battle scars, are so different than any other conflict with repeated IED explosives, multiple deployments, burn pits.
How do I know? I work with these soldiers, and their case managers, some without case managers or any insurance that come into my services. It SHOULD NOT be a daily battle for soldiers, their family, or for me, with accessibility for services.
I know several things from 3 1/2 years of working with current soldiers.
One, is fairness is not there, medically (to include dental services), psychologically, for all that have served, with accessibility for services. Two, all soldiers that have served, they are suffering the consequences from their deployments as are their spouse and children. Three, the VA system & Govt is overwhelmed with trying to figure out their own systems to serve these soldiers & families. Solution: all soldiers that have served, should have equal access to services & their family members.
Absolutely, I know that will be a drain on our economy. Respect, the sacrafices these soldiers and families have done for ten years. Do know, that if we don't provide soldiers needed services, and families: the haunt, pay now with services, or pay lots more latter.

I plan to write in Tom Perriello's name for VA Senator. It was wonderful having an ethical, caring Congressman who actually fought for his constituents.
The Dem. Party keeps foisting candidates More....on us, expecting us to vote for whomever they choose for us. I am tired of having NO VOICE! Don't even have choice in pres. primaries by the time VA gets to vote.
Dem. leaders need to LEAD, FOLLOW, or GET OUT OF THE WAY. My Congressman SHOULD NOT have been forced to carry healthcare without leadership from the bully pulpit of the White House. |

Mr. Perriello, I understand that you were overpowered by the Washington political machine and could not vote your conscience on all issues. However, now you are a political veteran, and you won't make More....that mistake again. Your principles set you apart from other candidates, and you have an obligation to run for office, not because it is what you want, but rather because it is what the country needs. Mr. Kaine would be an acceptable candidate, but I do not know if he would have the vision you bring to the table from your years of overseas service, which provide a unique perspective that who have not been there cannot understand. Although one person alone cannot change the Washington juggernaut, just like raindrops forming a torrent, separate individuals can contribute to a point of view which becomes a movement and then a historical trend. You are one of the few people on the planet with the courage and the political acumen to do that. Instead of being a minor player in Middle East politics, you could be changing the course of history through direct contacts in Washington. After three years of broken promises, the Democrats are going to lose the presidency in 2012. It will then be extremely important to have people of both parties in congress who have the personal integrity to guide our country through economic hard times caused by erroneous Republican policies without turning to wars of aggression to solve international problems. The Arab Spring you support is a double-edged sword, as you well know. Just as the revolution in Iran in 1979 was co-opted by extremists, resulting in the deaths of millions in subsequent decades, so also the Arab Spring can be co-opted. You cannot change this as a private individual, any more than Jimmy Carter has been able to change it. Far better to rejoin the good fight as an elected official, where your views can have more impact on events. Alexander Haig in his autobiography wrote that our foreign policy should be founded on two principles: strength and consistency. We can't be friends with everybody. We should pick our friends and let our enemies know where they stand, and where we stand. People like yourself will help us avoid the duplicity that has made the world mistrust us as a partner. It is said that Ronald Reagan could give the same speech at the end of his presidency as at the beginning, because his principles hadn't changed. I don't think yours have changed. Therefore, please consider following your destiny -- and I believe it is your destiny -- to run for office again. It is my view that despite your possible opinion to the contrary, you have the potential to become vice president or even president of the United States at some time in the future. |
