Supporter,

We wrote you last week about a last-minute deal in Congress that could cut retirees’ pension benefits. Since then, the Pension Rights Center has sent 17,734 messages to members of Congress, urging them to reject such a plan. If you haven’t already, there is still time to email your members of Congress and let your voice be heard.

Late last night, we learned that Congress will be voting on this deal today. Time is of the essence and we need your immediate help.

With only days left in the lame duck session, Congress is considering passing legislation that would allow pension plan trustees to cut the hard-earned pension benefits of retirees – as a purported solution to shoring up certain financially-troubled multiemployer plans. Such an unprecedented measure would be devastating to hundreds of thousands of retirees and widows who count on these pensions to survive.

Help us stop Congress from passing legislation that would undermine a key provision of the nation’s pension law.

Click here to send an e-mail to your members of Congress. Tell them to reject any bill that includes provisions that would reverse decades of protections for retirees.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Karen Friedman
Executive Vice President and Policy Director, Pension Rights Center
