Pension Rights Center 35th Anniversary Event
Join us on March 30 as the Pension Rights Center celebrates its 35th anniversary at a
Gala Event: A Celebration of Superheroes. At the gala event, the Center will hand out the Robert M. Ball – Lisle C. Carter Superhero awards for outstanding contributions to retirement security. The recipients this year are Senator Chuck Grassley, Senator Tom Harkin, Congressman George Miller and former President of the Retirement Research Foundation Marilyn Henenessy. We will also recognize leaders of the Conversation on Coverage and activists who have made a difference. In addition, we will launch the Michael S. Gordon Fellows Program for retired pension professionals. Entertainment will be provided by the Burnett Thompson Trio and the Retirement Security One-Night Band. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit our website at www.pensionrights.org/gala.

PRC quoted in New York Times
PRC Executive Vice President and Policy Director Karen Friedman was quoted in a recent New York Times article, “
Making the Most Out of Less.” The article, which focuses on the impact the recession has had on the retirement security of older Americans, also features two people whose stories are included in the Retirement USA Story Bank. Visit the Retirement USA Story Bank to read some of the concerns Americans have about their prospects in retirement.

Pension Rights Center acts on spousal protections in military pensions
The Pension Rights Center's Women's Pension Project and six other organizations sent a
letter to the Oklahoma State Senate, urging it to reject a bill that would significantly reduce military pension protections for civilian spouses in divorce. Despite the threat the this bill poses to former spouses, the bill passed the Oklahoma State Senate and is now being considered by the Oklahoma State House of Representatives.
