DIA's Mara Veraar Among Contributors to Forthcoming Social Networking Book
02:30 PM Sep 05, 2006
DIA's own Online Communications Manager Mara Veraar (who wields a
master's degree in public anthropology with a focus on online
communities) has authored an entry in Person-to-Person-to-Person,
a handbook of practical advice, analysis, and predictions about social networking compiled by
over 20 of today’s top names in Internet enterprise and politics.
Person-to-Person-to-Person
will be published by the Institute for Politics, Democracy & the
Internet (IPDI) at The George Washington University’s Graduate School
of Political Management. The book is slated for release at a free half-day seminar September 15 at GWU's Washington, D.C. campus. Mara will be in the house, along with unspecified others DIA peeps.
Mara's
chapter is about identity formation in online spaces and the role of
social networks in "authenticating" online identity ... and what that
dynamic holds for nonprofits and cause-oriented advocates.
