Coalition Mounts Protest Against Logic Puzzles.

05:00 PM Jun 19, 2006

Our users and many others in the space have raised plenty of good questions in the wake of the House of Representatives' deployment of "logic puzzles" available to help members avoid spam constituent e-mail.

Today, a diverse left-right-center coalition of organizations formally responded with a letter sent to all House of Representatives offices. You can get more involved in that coalition, or send an individual message to your rep (through a webform, natch) at www.dontblockmyvoice.org.

Obviously, the question of deliverability during the hopefully abbreviated logic puzzles era has been on many lips. Campaign managers using our tools will also want to consult our e-mail from last week outlining how DIA is responding. Precis version:

1) DIA is working on a technical workaround to pass the logic puzzle through to the user to fill out and submit.

2) At the same time, we will be working on a more robust technological solution to solve the logic puzzles without human intervention.

3) We will work with Congress and vendors on the Hill side to come up with a more long term solution.

4) We are encouraging all of our member organizations to sign on to the advocacy letter circulating on Capitol Hill.

Update:  And another microsite:  Don't Silence the People.
