It seems this is the season for saluting noteworthy dates -- though of course, in truth, every day on the calendar has its occasions -- so on the heels of yesterday's gore-soaked valentine to martial prowess in the service of anti-fascism, here's a tribute to ploughshares in the service of anti-imperialism:
DIA communards CodePink is pulling out the stops for Mother's Day, with a daylong White House vigil and some other events here in Babylon, plus other happenings around the country and the mandatory letter-writing campaigns and what-not for the wired. It's a nice, coordinated action with something for anyone to do.
On a related note, the increasingly free hand for Latin American leftists has been a happy side effect of the ruling clique's blunder into the Mesopotamian sinkhole, and on that note it's a good time to welcome a newer DIA member we've long admired, SOA Watch -- up and running a web campaign of its own in support of its long-running efforts to shut down the proving grounds for so many South American death squads.
