We picked a few you should know heading into the legislative session that begins Feb. 2.
Assembly number: 78th
Members: 90
Party breakdown: Democrats dominate both chambers, 35-25 in the House and 18-12 in the Senate.
Tax increases: New taxes require three-fifths approval. Democrats hold enough seats -- a "supermajority" -- in the Senate. But Republicans in the House have an edge of just one vote -- not much, but enough to block tax proposals.
